Mar 4. Shepparton

The RFE team moved to the city of Shepparton for the second leg of our tour. It was a pretty drive north from Melbourne about an hour and a half where we all met up at the lovely Tahbilk Winery.

There was a lot to see but as we were a bit behind, some of us only got a glance at it before we left for lunch. It is the area's oldest winery with an interesting museum.

After lunch we visited the Days Mill historic site. It is a well preserved steam mill with an interesting history. Much like our Balmoral Grist Mill, it barely missed destruction when it ceased operation but shows well the agricultural history of the area.

We made a stop at the city offices to have tea with deputy mayor Dinny Adem. The city of 40 thousand is rapidly growing and has some really innovative art and sports centers. They are encouraging businesses to locate there.

We also attended a club meeting of the Shepparton Rotary club and made our presentation. Barbara and I exchanged banners with Shepparton and Tatura Rotary clubs.

It's been raining most of the day and night but it has not dampened our enthusiasm. Our hosts John and Jan have taken good care of us.
